DiCarlo's replating process only uses the finest materials 24-karat gold and sterling silver. Your sacred vessels are handled with the care they deserve by experienced ecclesiastical craftsmen. Sacred vessels are usually made of three different base metals, sterling silver, nickel silver or brass. The original finish of these items are 24-karat gold or sterling silver which is applied (plated) over the base metals.

Our replating service uses the same quality materials and re-applies gold or silver to your vessels, then we polish them to perfection.

Tips on maintaining your newly restored items:

• Refrain from using any kind of abrasive polishes
• Clean with hot water and mild dish soap
• After every use wipe the item down with a polishing cloth

Restoration Process

The reasons why your sacred appointments have tarnished and have an aged look to them, is that the clear coating used to seal the original finishes have worn off or cracked. This has allowed air and moisture to oxidize the base metals.

Our restoration process begins with carefully dismantling all components, repair and replace any parts that are needed. We then proceed to strip all remaining clear coating and oxidation from the base metals in STR tanks. The base metal is then polished to either a high gloss (mirror) or satin finish. The item is then coated with enamel and thermal baked to a harden protective finish. Our thermal baked enamel finish is far superior to cold sprayed lacquers. Finally we proceed to delicately assemble all finished components and thoroughly polish one last time.

This is an environmentally safe process using no nickel or lead.
